Over 150 Rotarians, Rotaracters, Interacters, family, friends, and co-workers joined to restore habitat destroyed by wildfire and invasive species.

Sunny Saturday at Lake Lowell: over 150 Rotarians, Rotaracters, Interacters, family, friends, and co-workers joined to restore habitat destroyed by wildfire and invasive species.  With the help of Nichols Accounting (Thank you PDG Jennifer Derioin), we planted over 1,900 Idaho native seedlings.

In the center of the fields, our Rotary Earth Stewardship waved proudly, welcoming clubs from Ontario, Emmett, and East Boise-- all an hour drive to this spot. Russell Johnson, District Governor Nominee, from Idaho Falls and Anshu & TJ Verma from India joined us as well.

Around the fields, see youth wearly brightly colored caps with Rotary cogs; these are members from the four Interact clubs that led our planting.  In deed, over 30% present were under 30 years old AND over 25-30% were family, friends, co-workers and guest of Rotarians.

Lisa Vetter, President Emmett Rotary, said, “We all started in our own planting teams, but by the end of the event, we were all helping each other… we were all one.”

This is peace building. As our nation prepares to enter another potentially contentious election season, we Rotarians must intentionally plan activities and events to deepen the bonds of friendship and mutual respect in communities and nation.
