Lauren’s introduction to Rotary came at the age of 17 when she travelled to Linz, Austria as a Rotary Exchange Student from New Braunfels, Texas (District 5840).  She joined the Blackfoot Rotary Club in 2003 and served as club president in 2008-2009.  She became the club youth exchange counsellor in 2017 and joined the District Youth Exchange Committee in 2018.  Both of her children attended RYLA and she took part in the Rotary International Membership Seminar in Phoenix, Arizona in 2009.
 
Following her Rotary exchange year, Lauren attended Texas A&M University and graduated with degrees in Business Administration and Modern Languages.  She graduated with a juris doctorate degree from the University of Texas School of Law and maintains licenses in Texas and Idaho.  She specialized in appellate law until accepting a position as a staff attorney to the District Judge in Blackfoot in December of 2000.  Her involvement in the community includes Secretary to the Blackfoot Community Players; Senior Warden of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church; mentor to the We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution high school competitive team; member of and past secretary to the Blackfoot P.E.O. Club; and member of the Blackfoot Book Club.  Lauren has also participated in medical missions, alongside her husband, Dr. Matthew Murdoch, with Idaho Condor in Cuzco, Peru.
 
Lauren has been married to her husband Matt for 30 years.  They have 2 children, Kia and Ryan.  Kia has a law degree and works for the Alliance Française in San Francisco, California.  Ryan received a degree in biology, works as a medical scribe in Lacey, Washington, and anticipates a future in medicine.  Matt and Lauren love to travel, especially to see their kids!  Lauren also enjoys acting, baking, reading, and needlework in all of her spare time.
