Greater Boise Rotary Foundation (GBRF) funded two large grants in 2019.

Giraffe Laugh is opening a pre-school in Garden City, at the Boys and Girls Club site. This new classroom will benefit underserved 4 and 5 year olds who would not otherwise have access to preschool.  GBRF has given the organization $20,000 to purchase furniture and equipment for the classroom.

Giraffe Laugh’s mission is to ensure that every child in the Treasure Valley has access to quality early care and education and all parents are supported through the early years of parenthood regardless of age or income.  They know by ensuring kids are ready for kindergarten and empowering families, they are building strong futures every day.

$7,500 was also given to Life’s Kitchen for a new oven.  Life’s Kitchen is dedicated to transforming the lives of young adults by building self-sufficiency and independence through comprehensive food service and life skills training, placement in the food service industry, and continuing education.  In addition to their inhouse café, the students also learn food preparation and service at catering events.  By the time the students have completed the program they have composed a resume, gone through mock interviews and given talks to groups.  These at-risk students are given a second chance at employment and careers.

GBRF is funded by members of the eight Ada County Rotary clubs.  There are two grant cycles each year; Large Grant applications are due in October and Small Grant applications are due in March of each year.  $40,000+ is granted to Ada County Non-profits each year.  For more information about GBRF check out the website at:   www.gbrf.com
