On September 18, 2015 Rotary Club of Boise East had an unveiling ceremony for its REClaim Table Rock Project.  The old cement bench has been removed and replaced with 5 graffiti resistant benches.  They also installed an interpretive sign displaying the Boise skyline and pointing out areas of historical interest in it.

Present at the ceremony were Lt. Gov. Brad Little, Bill Buttici, Chairman of the Idaho Historical Society Board of Trustees, Boise City Councilwoman Lauren McLean and Jody Ochoa, Director of the Idaho Historical Society Museum and Old Idaho Penitentiary

The day was beautiful and the presentations emphasized the importance of Table Rock to the area and the partnership between Boise East and the Historical Society.  Jeff Hatch, former president of the club, spoke about the historical significance of Table Rock and the desire to keep it clean and usable for present and future residents.

Present for the unveiling were Brenda Kolson, President of the Ada County Association of Realtors and Becky Enrico-Crum.  The Ada County Association of Realtors sponsored a bench.  Likewise, John Muir, on behalf of the Muir family donated a bench as well as Jeff Hatch in honor of the Idaho Historical Society.  Finally, the members of Boise East that were there helped to unveil the bench that the club donated.

Boise East has worked hard to get to this point.  However, the work is only about half done.  There are still 2 more benches that need to be installed as well as 3 additional signs.  Also, as part of the effort to keep Table Rock clean, Boise East is spearheading an “Adopt Table Rock:” program where organizations can volunteer once or twice in a particular month to clean up the top of Table Rock.

Boise East is still looking for sponsors for the benches and the signs.  If you know anybody that might be interested, contact a member of the club or email at rotarytablerockproject@gmail.com.  Also, donations can be made to www.tablerockproject.com.  The donations are made to the District 5400 Charitable Programs, Inc. and are tax-deductible.
